Used 50/50 with the white shavings or with EquiStable flax, these provide a comfortable springy bed with good absorbency.

Normally one bale per week is sufficient to maintain an established bed. 
Decomposes more quickly than woodshavings
Flax is highly absorbent.

Flax and manure: an excellent fertilizer: Rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, manure from stables can be used for all cultures. . The manure from the flax bedding decomposes very quickly and the neutral pH, reduce soil acidity.

 

FLAX: Guidelines for use:
Standard floor (12' x 12' stable) Start new bed with 7-8 bales. Lay bed and tred down. You may add water to the bed to establish as firm a base as possible. After about one week the bed should be fully settled and should be about 20cms deep.

Rubber matting (12' x 12' stable) Start new bed with approximately 5 bales (sufficient to cover at least half the stable to a depth of 20cms)
